Teacher Visits Student Homes

Florida | Inspirational

When the schools closed down in Florida, Rebecca decided on her own to drive to the homes of each of her students for a visit -- a task she thought would take about three hours. Instead, it took six hours! This was because she knew it would be important to take the time needed for conversation with each of the kids and their families (at a safe distance, of course).

There was only one student she didn’t get to see that day and that student received a phone call when Rebecca got home.

She is now conducting classes via Google Meets where she reads chapter books to her class so they have a touch point as often as possible. Rebecca is one of those teachers known for going above and beyond when she had a regular classroom to teach from, and she continues to do so in the midst of this crisis.

We are most grateful to all the teachers like Rebecca. She, like many others, have had to change so much about the way she teaches except for one thing -- how much she cares about her students. Rebecca is a FrontLine hero!
